With Return to Earth

Hello Bugra [Bamboora] and Geoff [Return to Earth]! We would like to wish you a warm welcome to the Worka Tune Family. ‘Wolf Bite’ is the name of the record you have signed on our label, how does it feel?

Bam: It feels great! As producers based on States side, it feels exciting to release tune on a European label. Excited to see the reception of our tune by people who are far and beyond.

Geoff: Thanks! I’m pumped, but most of all I can’t wait to hear some feedback on the track.

Bamboora has been around for a year if I trust his SoundCloud page, but Return to Earth is a relatively new project. How did you guys meet and how did you end up collaborating?

Bam: We are both based in Boston. It is a big yet small city and we have little gatherings and online groups that connect same area djs and producers. I am always on the lookout to discover new young talent and through recommendation of a mutual friend I came across Geoff on one of these platforms. I was sitting on a few unfinished projects and going through Geoff’s catalogue I felt like he would be the person to approach to take some of these projects to the next level. He worked his magic on Wolf Bite and here we are now!

Geoff: Couldn’t have said it better myself. It also helps to meet people in real life (as opposed to just online) to get things kicked off. Bam is a great guy and I’ve known about his music for a while.

As we can hear in your respective records, you are used to producing in a very sharp and powerful style of music, between Drum & Bass, Dubstep and Electro House. Is there a specific definition you like to associate your music with?

Bam: I don’t consider myself too musical to specify my production genre. I approach music making with a dj mindset so whatever I am feeling at the time, matched with my mood that day is what usually becomes the baseline for my projects. A lot of my tracks seem to have gritty bass lines and aggressive synths, so subliminally my tunes might be affected by my teen-day love for hard rock and metal.

Geoff: The best answer I could give to this question is « loud, but not annoying ». I have a tendency to try to pack as much energy into my productions as possible. However, the challenge is finding a way to give the tracks a little bit of musical taste so that they are easy to follow and stay interesting even if you listen to them 100 times. I like music that I can turn up really loud in my car without hurting my ears too much.

In terms of numbers, Bamboora’s records can be qualified as successful by a ton of producers. Is there something you would like to share to inspire and motivate them?

Bam: Don’t worry about stats and numbers. Make music that reflects your creative vision as an artist. There will always be people who like and dislike your sound. Just take the ones that like it and work on broadening your reach to people who have similar tastes as you. over 7 billion people live on Earth and 1/7th of them use musical outlets and internet on a daily basis. You will gain fans eventually if you stay true to yourself.

Since ‘Return to Earth’ is still pretty young as a musical project, have you already targetted a goal of any kind?

Geoff: Yes, actually. My goal is consistency, which is the hardest thing for 99% of the artists out there. I feel comfortable with my production chops, so the plan is to release music in predictable intervals so that I can keep myself humble and keep everyone else supplied with fresh music. Lately, I’ve been playing around with cool sci-fi themes and sounds which I hope to incorperate into the newer tracks. I’ve had a number of other projects in the past so I’m already familiar with the business logistics and all that bland stuff.

Last question, what would be your dream achievement with your respective project? Are you dreaming big or hoping to enjoy making music in parallel of a job?

Bam: I think gaining some support from other djs would be sweet as always. If we could get it to chart on Beatport that would be dreamy but not something I would lose sleep over if it doesn’t happen. I am more about reaching to new ears with the release on your label.

Geoff: I think all I want to do is be able to say that I met more new people in the next year than I did this year. And also that I released the best music that I could without compromise. Songwriting and performing is about working together and having fun, so if that might scale to a large size I’ll have to figure it out when I get there.

Double thank you for giving us a little part of your precious time!

Geoff: You’re double welcome!

‘Wolf Bite’ by Bamboora and Return to Earth will be released on 14th November through Worka Tune Records.
