Interview

With François Trovero

Hi François! No need to welcome you to the family: you are actually one of the label’s managers! However, how is it that ‘Katana’ is your first release on the label?

I admit that it is a laughable situation! I did not get an opportunity to release a track on Worka Tune before. I made several collaborations since I started working for the label. Indeed, a collaboration involves legal obligations (sometimes there is an exclusive distribution arrangement…). Moreover, occasionally, Worka’s releases planning did not correspond to my wishes. We actually had a lot of tracks to release and schedule my track in such a calendar was sometimes really difficult.

In the past you have released records through Starter Records, Dice Records, D-Tracks (in collaboration with Max’C) and Joys Productions to name a few, how does it feel to release music ‘at home’ now?

I am really proud to release a track (w/ Jim Cerrano) on my own label. Releasing ‘Katana’ is a way that I can directly contribute to the Worka community. Moreover, It will be easier for the track promotion as well. Indeed, I had problems with some records labels. In most cases, label managers are not available to answer the artists’ questions and to do a satisfying promotion. Most of the time, I did the records’ promotion all by myself. Even if I work for Worka Tune, I am now confident in the label’s promotion capabilities.

Your forthcoming release on Worka Tune – ‘Katana’ – is the result of your collaboration with Jim Cerrano. How did the record come to life? And why did you choose to release 2 versions?

I have known Jim’s production skills for a while but it seemed that we had not had the opportunity to collaborate before. I actually sent him an interesting unfinished project. This is how the record came to life! Both versions are crazy but each one is different and that is why we are releasing both! The ‘Festival version’ is ‘bouncier’ than the other one, as well as a mix between music styles. The ‘Alternative version’ has a heavy percussion drop and an intense build-up.

Since your latest production (called ‘Spartan’), we have not heard many things about you and your music, what are you keeping in store?

I am not used to releasing tracks very often. Currently, Maurizio Gubellini and Matteo Sala are working on a reboot of my track ‘Feeling Free’ with Max’C. Of course, I have other projects but nothing concrete except ‘Katana’ and ‘Feeling Free 2016’ at the moment.

What are your current plans for the future and for your music?

I want to focus on ‘Katana’ and ‘Feeling Free 2016’ first as I mentioned. I am going to think about another release after that.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply to our questions!

My pleasure!

‘Katana’ by Francois Trovero and Jim Cerrano is going to be officially released on 12th September through Worka Tune Records.
