Interview

With Gianmarco Bottura

Hello Gianmarco Bottura and NOIZ3R! Glad to welcome you in the always growing Worka Tune Family. ‘Good for U’ represents your first ever release on the label, how do you feel about it?

Gianmarco Bottura: Yo, I think both NOIZ3R and I feel very excited about the release of this track. As NOIZ3R said, it is a big milestone for us to be part of the Worka Tune family, so we are just happy and we can not believe that!

NOIZ3R: Hey there! I am feeling great, thanks for asking. Actually I’m really excited for this release. It is sincerely an honor for me to have the opportunity to release on Worka Tune, such a professional label!

So far you have been releasing several records in various music genres, how can you qualify your production style? Is there something special in the air with the Italian scene at the moment?

Gianmarco Bottura: I think that the best word to describe my production is “Bass”. I really love making tracks with tight basslines, like basshouse tracks or something like meltrance tracks. My records are precise in the best way possible to me: I am trying to find the perfect mixdown technique in order to create the cleanest music in terms of mixdown. At the moment the Italian scene has lots of new talents: some of them (like Merk & Kremont, DELAYERS, Luca Testa and more) also support my production and I am incredibly happy about that; let’s rock 2017 in the best way possible!

NOIZ3R: I am not the kind of person that usually defines itself, but if I had to choose a word to describe myself, I would choose “Energetic”. I am constantly trying to put all my energy in my productions and in my sets too. However I am also trying not to stick to a few genres. I am surely a fan of 128 BPM but you can expect different and original stuff in the future, for sure! Actually there are a lot of talented acts in Italy which only need to be discovered and reach a bigger audience. Unfortunately the EDM scene in Italy is not that big and it is still in development. So I hope that in the next years EDM will be considered as important as other musical genres, like in the other countries.

Who would you take as a reference in the world of Electronic music? Are they your favorite producers as well?

Gianmarco Bottura: I think Merk & Kremont, who are also my favorite producers as well, but also Streex, the new upcoming group on Spinnin’ Records. Moreover, in terms of performance, I really like Will Sparks’ style, so powerful and full of energy!

NOIZ3R: That is a tough question, because nowadays the scene is full of big and really talented acts. If I had to pick my favourite 5 I would choose Martin Garrix (mainly for his young age and his determination), JAUZ and Snails (for their crazy sound design), Will Sparks (because his livesets are crazy and he’s a really good showman) and Merk & Kremont (because they are from my country and for their sick productions).

In a more personal aspect, how did you guys meet? And how did you eventually manage to make this collaboration a success?

Gianmarco Bottura: We both live in the same town. One day NOIZ3R wrote to me, he incredibly liked my style and my productions, so we decided to team up for a big collaboration in order to release it on a label as yours! I really like the style of this guy NOIZ3R. He is very young and I think the future will be absolutely happy for him, I hope, good job brotha!

NOIZ3R: I met Gianmarco about one year ago on social media like SoundCloud and Facebook. We are from the same town so we ended up collaborating for the first time 6 months ago with our track “Infected”. From there we became really good friends and 4 months after we started working on “Good For U”. Actually I don’t know, but I can tell you for sure that we work really well together. My ideas always fit his and the opposite too. He is a master of mixdown too so it is always a pleasure to work with him. For this track we wanted to unite Bass House sounds, which Gianmarco had already experimented, and my Melbourne Bounce sonority, as you can hear mainly in the first drop of the track.

Last part, as young breakthrough producers [respectively 16 and 19 years old], are you taking music as a passion or as a potential career? What plans are you currently associating with your respective projects?

Gianmarco Bottura: I think music is the best part of my life. I will (if possible) be trying to live only taking care about music and I hope it will give me the opportunity to work as music producer/performer in a near future. I know it is hard, because lots of guys dream about the same thing as me, but I will try, try and try (as Pink’s song said, ahah!) to improve my style and to create my own sound in the best way as possible, in order to be selected by important managements/events/labels and so on.

NOIZ3R: Well, for me it all started as a passion about one year ago. I always loved Electronic Music, so I thought: “Hey! Why do not you start producing your own stuff?”. And this is more or less how it all started. So it is a personal passion for sure. However, I am trying to do all I can to reach the hearts of more people, day after day, and to spread the word about my music. So yes, I am doing my best to turn it into more than a simple passion. Do I have any plan for the future? Just one, NEVER GIVE UP.

Thanks a lot for taking the time to reply to our questions!

Gianmarco Bottura: Thank you too Worka Tune for this such interesting interview!

NOIZ3R: You are welcome, it was a pleasure for me to answer!
